226-Oct-22Assessment and management of psychosomatic pain syndromesDefine somatization and identify patients with increased risk for somatization. Reflect on attitudes and beliefs about somatic symptom disorders.
323-Nov-22Management of pain in people with disabilitiesAssess specific pain syndromes that can develop in patients with disabilities (including spinal cord injury, stroke, concussion/Acquired Brain Injury). Explain how to optimize pain management for people with disabilities.
413-Dec-22Nutrition and painIdentify the role of nutrition in pain management. Identify diets that may negatively impact pain/inflammation. List common dietary strategies and resources that may positively influence pain.
525-Jan-23Treatment of fibromyalgia with psychotherapy Identify common psychological symptoms that are often present in individuals with fibromyalgia.       Recognize evidence based psychotherapeutic modalities that improve the function and symptoms in individuals with fibromyalgia.     Discuss behavioral activation strategies that have been proven to improve fibromyalgia symptoms.    
622-Feb-23Special considerations for assessment and management of pain in the elderly population Recognize the multi-morbidity and complex challenges experienced by elderly people with pain.    Identify special considerations for pain assessment in the elderly (e.g., cognitive, non-verbal communication).    Discuss pain pharmacotherapy and unique considerations in balancing benefits versus harms in the elderly population, including advantages of and opportunities for deprescribing.   
722-Mar-23Assessment and management of chronic abdominal pain syndromes Discuss clinical assessment and differential diagnoses of Chronic Abdominal Pain Syndromes.     Identify evidence-based management strategies for chronic abdominal pain (e.g., rehab, pharmacological, interventional strategies). 
826-Apr-23Addressing trauma in individuals experiencing chronic pain Explain the neurobiology of trauma, including the relationship between trauma and pain.    Define trauma and violence informed care (TVIC) and discuss how it can support people with pain.   Identify barriers to pain care that people with trauma may experience and discuss steps that health care providers can take to address these barriers.
